BIOGRAPHY

LEOPARD LEG is Maya-Victoria, Moreen, Blue, Emma, Aymie, Christina, Victoria, Rowan, Robyn, Gayle & Miranda - a 10+ piece all-girl drum troupe from London and Brighton.

Ploughing that narrow furrow between chaotic abandon and calm self-control, their epic incantations swing from hushed sea shanties one minute to free-noise racket the next.

While at least 8 members concentrate on drums and voice, producing primal, interlocking rounds and rhythms, the band augments their sound with an ever-growing array of guitars, violins, bowed saws, sheet metal and singing tubes.

Since their inception in June 2005, Leopard Leg's ever-evolving, all-consuming live show has illuminated stages across the land, on tour with Liars and supporting such greats as Afrirampo, Wolf Eyes, Asva, Burning Star Core and Prurient.

Although each Leopard Leg performance is wholly unique, this isn't just your usual improvised fair. Leopard Leg play well defined songs, drawing on the mythical and historical, whether that be Anne Boleyn on her way to the gallows or the uncertainties of oceanic exploration.

RELEASES

'THE SEVEN SISTERED SEA-SECRET OF SHH, SHH, SHH'

Sea (excerpt)

UTR004 | Double gatefold LP | 8 tracks, 70 mins | 14 Aug 2006 | Buy

'The Seven Sistered Sea-Secret of Shh Shh Shh' is comprised of two epic movements. Side A is the studio jam "Sea" where gothic whisperings are a counterpoint to a noise meltdown, the sound of souls sucked under the waves with a doomed vessel. In contrast, Side B "Skoteino Dasos" is a field recording made one dark night in the wooded, Sussex countryside - a blend of ghostly laments and invented percussion.

'The Seven Sistered Sea-Secret of Shh Shh Shh' is released as one half of a split double gatefold LP with T.I.T.S' 'Throughout the Ages'. Intended as a transatlantic gathering of kindred spirits - two female tribes on a mission to push the boundaries of experimental rock - the record documents the complex and spooky coincidences that exist between two unknown, unheard, unrelated, but highly imaginative bands living thousands of miles apart.
